BIOGRAPHY
Sonia Mokhtari is a French American Creative Audio Designer and Award-winning Composer with a passion for enhancing user experiences in games, films, and social media through her signature sound and evocative music. She studied Jazz and Classical music at the Conservatory of Vienne and Lyon in France, playing piano, guitar & bass, ukulele, and drums.
Sonia holds an M.F.A in Music & Sound for Visual Media, a B.A in Music Education from Université Lumière Lyon II, and a certificate in Music for film, TV, and Games from Berklee College of Music. Over the years, she has proudly served as the Sound Designer & Composer for various projects and companies, including Zynga, EA/maxis, META, VGW, Calm, Audioplum, and has scored over 30 movie soundtracks.
In addition to her creative work, Sonia is a Professor of Music Technology at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She is also passionate about exploring new audio technology tools to enhance her artistic endeavors. Her musical inspiration comes from Ravel, Debussy, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, Jazz, and World music. In the world of film, she is influenced by John Williams, Alan Menken, John Powell, Michel Legrand, Arthur Hoenneger, Bernard Herrmann, and many others. In the gaming realm, she's a huge fan of Winifred Philips, Nobuo Uematsu, Martin O’Donnell, and more.
