BIOGRAPHY

Sonia Mokhtari is a French-American, Award wining Composer & Sound Designer for Visual Media, with over two decades of extensive expertise.

Originally from France, her unwavering passion for all things music began early on and it has stayed with ever since.

 

She received a M.F.A  in Music & Sound for Visual Media  from University Lumière of Lyon 2 and completed an Audio for Game and Music Composition for Film and TV certificate at Berklee College of Music. 

She previously obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from CFMI of Lyon and a Certificate in Audio Production & Recording from Women's Audio Mission (WAM) in San Francisco.

Sonia also studied jazz & Arabic music (guitar & piano) at the music conservatories of Lyon and Vienne.

To date, Sonia has proudly served as the Sound Designer & Composer of a multitude of projects and Companies, including  META, AWG games, Calm.com, TutoTOONS Games, AUDIOPLUM Studio, animated shorts entitled “Lucha Grampa,”"Charlie's buck teeth" and countless more.

She was also a Music and Audio Professor at Academy of Art University of San Francisco.

 

As an avid lover of music, Sonia aims to spread her enthusiasm and appreciation to people across the globe through her artistic endeavors. Ultimately, she sees music as a universal language that brings people together no matter where they’re from.

 

Furthermore, Sonia is deeply inspired by the exquisite music of Ravel, Debussy, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, Jazz and World music in general. When it comes to the art of film, she is influenced by John Williams, Alann Menken, Danny Elfman, Michel Legrand, and Arthur Hoenneger.
